It is really exciting because this garden has grown into a masterpiece. Truly, it is amazing we just dug up the grass in our backyard and planted seeds and BAM. A garden. We haven't been able to eat any of the tomatoes or beans yet but we have been using the herbs often. Mint, lemon thyme, basil, rosemary...Great in food but even better in drinks. We made a strawberry, blood orange, basil and mint red wine sangria....So good. That is about all I have to say for the garden update. The photos really speak for these posts anyways.
As a journalist, I'm always looking for fresh and exciting stories. Not just because I want to write and tell them, but because I am a very curious person and want to share my adventures with the world. Most of the time I don't know these people, but in this case I do. It happens to be my sister.
I can actually remember her asking to play football when she was around 7 or 8 years old...So when I heard she was going to play at Hall I wasn't even super surprised. Plus, it's Erin...That is so her, and if you knew her, you would know that.
During the vlog, I asked Erin about the people who didn't support her. Aka the HATERS!!! There are always haters, part of being strong and believing in yourself is not listening to them and blocking negative attitudes out of your life. But Erin's situation really ticked me off. We talked about how it wasn't the boys on the football team, the coaches or even any players or coaches on other teams. It was GIRLS who showed no love. Girls who talked poorly about her. Some even said she was doing it to be "surrounded by boys" and this absolutely outrages me.
Seriously I will never think about this and not have a fire immediately lit inside.
GIRLS NEED TO STAND UP FOR EACH OTHER.
We need to have each others back are you kidding me?!
Not supporting Erin is one thing, but sexualizing her intentions is absurd. Women have it hard enough trying to make it in this world.
What Erin did was revolutionary. Breaking down stereotypes, taking a chance in a male-dominated area and sharing her story while encouraging others to be themselves. I think the message here is one that everyone can take from. I recently wrote a blog post about what I've learned over my 3 years in college and about how working hard and not being afraid is the way to be successful, the way to be happy...It's your life. Take hold of it.
Support one another. Be happy for others.... Stop being so damn jealous and selfish... it's embarrassing.
Anyways, (rant over) I hope you all like this video. Sorry about the blurry quality in the beginning. I just got a new camera to vlog with and I'm still trying to figure it out. This was actually my first video using the camera. We would have re-filmed it but I'm not currently living with Erin so I didn't know when we would have the time to redo it.
If you have any questions comment or Tweet and Erin and I promise to get back to you! Currently putting together a game day vlog so keep an eye out for that.
