It's hard to believe that 2018 is here. It has always been crazy to me how you can think so clearly about celebrating new years last year and it feels like it was yesterday. But when you think of everything that has happened in the past year, it truly feels like a full 365 days.
When I think back on 2017, I think about working at the school newspaper, The New Hampshire, during the presidential election. I think about all of all the truly spectacular humans I met in Durham, of the fond senior year memories I have. I think of the bittersweet final days of living with my best friends. I think about my summer spent in Portsmouth, my decision to up and explore New York City. I think about Hayley, my beautiful friend who we lost recently. I think about how short and precious life really is.
My eyes are tearing up with a mixture of happiness and sadness. I am excited about what the future holds and what the past has taught. I want to start a new year challenge for my blogging friends, and even friends who don't have a blog (answer in an Instagram post) to reflect on our years and share our challenges and dreams for 2018. So if I tagged you in this post, I hope you can take on the challenge and tag some more friends, and if I didn't tag you but you're reading this and thinking it's something you want to take on, please do so! The more the merrier.
Here's want I want to hear from you!
Top 3 accomplishments of 2017.
I think it's really important to be proud of yourself and what you have accomplished.
1. A successful run as executive editor of the school newspaper. This is something I never knew I had in me and I was so blessed to have a hardworking team that made a crazy year so strong.
2. Graduating from UNH! 4 years honestly flew by but a college degree is definitely something to be proud of.
3. Following my heart and being persistent about what I wanted most for my post-grad life. BIG NEWS to come in 2018! I can't wait to share my next adventure with you all soon...Stay tuned.
Top 3 goals for 2018.
Make these goals something you truly think you can achieve! It is too often that resolutions are lost throughout the year so I think sharing these goals with each other can be motivation.
1. Start my YouTube channel again.
I really want to get back to posting and making a more professional YouTube channel for you all. It's a lot of work, but I want to find the time.
2. Dance more. Share more.
Now that I'm out of school it's up to me to continue my dance education without scheduled dance classes and I want to become more confident with sharing this lifelong passion I have with the world.
3. Get better at meal prep and eating all my vitamins.
I want to start investing more time into what I eat and how I organize and prepare my foods. If anyone has any meal prep suggestions, because I get sick of eating the same thing every day, suggestions are very welcomed!
Top 3 favorite memories of 2017.
It's always fun to reflect on your favorite times. I have a feeling I'll write these down and then want to change them 100 times but really just go with what you think of first. Obviously, there are millions of great memories to share.
1. Living with my best friends.
All I have to say is... Mill Road forever.
2. Spending my summer in New Hampshire and in Cape Cod.
There is just something so special about summer on the seacoast. I loved waitressing and making memories with the Fat Fam, biking around Durham, going to the beach and just having a relaxing and quiet summer. As for Cape Cod, it is one of my favorite family traditions and I look forward to it every year.
3. Taking on NYC out of the blue. I just kind of up and moved to the city. It was definitely the most adventurous thing I've done, and I owe this to two amazing people who let me stay with them for a bit. But, I learned so much about myself, I made some amazing friends and although it was stressful at times, I wouldn't change it for the world.
Top 3 small self-improvements for 2018.
Be more... Make more... Have more... Make new... (and so on)
We can all take small steps to becoming our best selves. Think about who you want to be and what small things you can change about your attitude to become that way.
1. Make new friends.
Moving to a new place means stepping out of my comfort zone and making and meeting a lot of new friends.
2. Stick to schedules.
The key to keeping goals is being consistent with what you want to do. I want to make a solid schedule for myself and stick to it!
3. Read more books.
I used to read all the time, but now I find myself mostly only reading the news, articles and blog posts online. I want to make a goal to finish more books this year. No e-books...paperback books. Who is up for a book club?
So TAG! You're it. I can't wait to hear about your favorite memories and cheer on everyone's goals for 2018. Don't forget that even if you don't have a blog you can answer these questions in an Insta or Facebook post.
Happy New Year!
